and saying that he has no friends and nobody loves him.Im devastated for him and dont know how to help him.
He is a little overweight and some little fucker slagged him off over the summer and got a group of kids to laugh at him.
He has friends but not a best friend, he says. He prefers the company of girls and likes to play with dolls and dress up as princess.I wonder if he feels like he is different. He doesnt really like sport but has decided to pursue rugby this year! Please advise me.Thanks

That's so heart breaking. My DD is much the same at 8. This year she started Jujitsu and it's really improved her confidence and I can see her strength, fitness and balance improving. It's sporty but not too intense. Hope this idea helps.

My best advice would be to find a thing that he is good at and build a friendship group around that and start to rebuild his self confidence. Identify a few of the friendlier kids in school and invite them around regularly.

They grow like mushrooms at this age so it should be enough just to purge any junk from his diet and wait for it to balance out.

Thats sounds like my ds1 when he was a similar age

I spoke to the junior school and they arranged for him to have regular meetings with the

They also did one exercise that I remember when they got his friends and other children and the teachers to write positively about him...wish i had it but it was internal

He had a little issue at the start of seniors and again he was referred to learning support and had regular chats with them which helped no end

He always had self esteem issues but as the years have gone on they have lessened

I second informing school of the issue over the summer, if you haven't already done so. Are any of the perpetrators at his school?

scarybutterflies · 05/09/2019 13:15

No! I have told the school and they will keep a good eye on him. Thanks. Rugby starts soon too so I hope he will like it and meet others

Fingers crossed for you both.

It was the being able to talk things through that really helped ds1

And as he settled he could have a little rant about all sorts of stuff just to clear his mind, even stuff on the news
