Have I gone wrong somewhere re makeup?

I wear very little makeup day to day, mascara and brow powder but my nearly 3 year old always tells me she needs makeup to look beautiful. Has she picked this up from me? I'm very careful to never say that, tell her all the time she looks beautiful but she steals my lip balm and says 'I need to look beautiful, I need makeup'. What have I done?Sad

I'll bet anything it'll be the media somehow. What does she watch/access?

I love make up but have found it strange since having DS - he asks me what I'm doing and I actually don't have an answer ("erm .. drawing dark lines on my eyes .. I don't know why")

How do you talk about it with her? I wear make up and my dd sees me put it on all the time. She’s 6. When she asks me why, I explain it’s because it helps me look less tired. I’ve always emphasised that we are all perfect just how we are and that she is smart and beautiful. She thinks make up is for grown ups who don’t get much sleep and need to look more awake (which is pretty accurate in my case!). I don’t let her play with make up except a bit of lip balm.
