Hi guys I have seen several doctors for my 9 months rash, they say it's milia and nothing to worry about 2 other doctors say it's eczema but none can give a clear answer. Does any one know what this is? It seems to come and go and is on his cheeks, knees and forearms only.

Thanks guys

Looks like milia to me, my nephew had it. But I'm no expert ☺️

If several doctors have said it’s nothing to worry about why are you then putting it on mumsnet for none medical people to assess this? Confused If it doesn’t bother your lo just let them be!

Wolfiefan · 05/09/2019 21:16

You have asked “several” medical professionals and don’t believe them? Why would you believe the advice of random strangers on MN? Confused

@KissyThief because as a mum I would like to know it is and I thought Mumsnet was a place for mothers to share their experiences to see whether others had similar situations or advice. Obviously not

@Wolfiefan because I thought mumsnet was a place to share experiences and gain advice from others mums who may have experienced similar situations. Yes doctors have said it's nothing but as a mum you would like to know why your lo is getting a rash.

DS still sometimes gets rashes like this. Usually before a cold or sometimes just randomly! Don’t think it’s anything of concern!Cake

wishingyouluck · 07/09/2019 11:24

My son (19 months) also has this, and in the same places as you mention.. also a bit on his bottom. I have just presumed it's a bit of a baby skin thing, like milk spots. He has it all the time. Will watch this thread though for more information if it comes!!

Wolfiefan · 07/09/2019 12:12

But it’s not a place for diagnosis and you’ve already seen “several” doctors. It isn’t contagious, requires no treatment and will cause your child no harm. At least that’s what the doctors with years of training have told you. Seeing a doctor or pharmacist once for reassurance I understand but seeing several then posting on here too seems very OTT and make you sound excessively anxious.

Mdhil · 07/09/2019 12:54

@Wolfiefan yes perhaps I do suffer from health anxiety. Seems like your taking this post very very seriously you obviously have some sort of issues aswell. Take care and Thanks for your help

@Wolfiefan several doctors with conflicting information - if you had read the post you would have seen that. Smile

You don’t trust qualified doctors but trust strangers on the internet? Confused
Address the health anxiety and stop worrying about a non issue that isn’t bothering your child.

Mdhil · 07/09/2019 13:10

Ok taking your great advice on board!! Thanks lovely stranger - freak 😉

Mdhil -- Umm, Wolfiefan is a regular, very sensible poster.

If you are interpreting her posts as freakish and saying she has issues, I would politely suggest the problem may be at your end.

I agree, the doctors, with training, who have seen it properly in the flesh, have said it is fine. Really not sure what you expect a group of random people on internet to do from 2 photos!

Mdhil · 07/09/2019 13:20

@steppemum I was implying I must be the freak for the way @Wolfiefan has been replying to my threads. No need to gang up on users. Thanks for your responses. Take care

@wishingyouluck Will still keep trying to get to the bottom of it. Thank you for your response

@tmh88 that's interesting he's teething quite a bit at the moment so he's likely to be run down. Thanks for your response.

If you have health anxiety (would be suggested by seeing more than one qualified professional over something minor) then any answers here will only feed that.
You need to deal with the anxiety.
Nope. Not a freak. Someone who recognised unhealthy patterns of anxiety.

Mdhil · 07/09/2019 13:43

@Wolfiefan thanks

Were you originally asking for skincare advice or an opinion re whether the docs missed something?

If the first one, maybe could look up some of the eczema threads re bathing routines and good emollients etc. My dd skin looked a bit like this after bubble bath/head to toe type washes that dried her skin out

Mdhil · 07/09/2019 14:41

@oldenoughtobehavebetter thank you will take a look in to that, that's helpful.
