Kurbo dieting app for eight year olds

Really shocked to hear that Weight Watchers (WW) have released a new dieting app for children as young as 8 years old. There is robust evidence to show that dieting is dangerous for young people as it can harm their physical and hormonal growth, and lead to an increased risk of eating disorders.

I was diagnosed with anorexia in my teens, and this app sounds like a virtual eating disorder you can download off the app store and hand straight to your kids. Even in the case of children who are severely overweight, this app could cause a dangerous obsession with food and weight loss and may lead to a lifelong struggle with dieting and weight cycling. Any changes to a child's lifestyle should be made with the supervision of a paediatrician, not an app.

You can find out more about it here: edition.cnn.com/2019/08/24/opinions/weight-watchers-app-for-kids-thomas/index.html

I have posted a link to the petition to remove it over in the e-petitions section. Please don't give this app to your kids!
