Formula advice

So DD2 is 7 weeks old, originally we started her on Aptamil stage 1. She showed signs of windy issues, crying episodes and discomfort when pooing. So we decided to change her to Hipp organic. She's been on this formula for nearly 3 days, and I know your meant to give her time to settle and she can pass gas and wind better and poos easier she is crying more after feeds and being sick. So I don't know what to do... continue or change back or a different brand? Any advice appreciated.

What you describe can be normal for small babies. There digestive system are very immature.

How sick has been? Full feeds or just small amounts?
What are her poos like? Baby centre has a good photo guide.
Is she gaining weight?

Which bottles are you using?

Squeakybubbles26 · 31/08/2019 12:45

@hormonesorDHbeingadick
On aptamil rarely sick and when she pood they were yellow and typical consistency.

On hipp not loads of sick (unless she's drank to much) and her poos are thicker but she seems not struggling to pass a bowel movement.

We're using dr browns.

Agree with PP, it can sometimes be the bottles, as there’s not a really a huge difference between the formulas. But it doesn’t sound unusual, their digestive systems are still so new and immature, hopefully it just gets better with time. No harm in seeing your HV for advice though if it doesn’t get better.

For the first couple of weeks they poo automatically and they have to learn to poo. At first most babies clench their anus shut when they try to poo but they get the hang of it eventually.

I would go back to the apimil. It’s cheaper and you get ready made bottles for out and about.

@hormonesorDHbeingadick ah Hipp is actually cheaper by us and you can get prepared cartons to. I kind of wish I didn't change now.
