Dd 6 emotions after school change

She can be a tad dramatic on the odd occasion but normally quite a well balanced child.
We moved her school at Easter our decision due to us (parents) unhappy with school got various reasons.
She seemed to settle ok invited to parties played with various people. Although she was excelling at old school the new school is a lot stricter and they push the kids much more so she’s trying to adapt.
She’s been so upset after school all week lashing out at me her little brother. I think the school changes are hitting her now. On top of this she seems to only be playing with the boys she’s says they will shout at her if she doesn’t we have reassured her this is not the case and will flag up with teacher.
Is there anything I can do to help her adjust. Is this reaction normal for her age?

I think we always underestimate as adults how much change affects children even if they seem to be ok at first. Has she just moved up a year group? Maybe she is finding adjusting to new class expectations difficult. Definitely ask teacher about what is going on with her friendships as your DD seems unhappy about it. Hope she settles soon. My DC only seems to truly settle in to a new class after Christmas even though she has been with at least half the class since nursery.

I’m guessing the excitement of being the new kid has worn off for her and the other children and reality has set in. That plus going back after the long summer is bound to have an effect. Give her time to adjust and keep reassuring her. How long has she been back since the summer break?
