Anxious about nursery

Hi, my lb is due to start nursery in a few weeks and this week and next we have a few taster sessions to get him use to going. I took him yesterday for an hour and was filling in paperwork and felt like I was constantly trying to watch him, he was happy and crawled off to play with toys with the other babies. When we left I found myself worrying about lots of things like what about if he chokes on something and then I worried cos there was so many babies and thought gosh how do they manage them all. It’s silly really as I know they will do a great job, it’s 1 key carer to 3 babies. Is it normal to feel this anxious at first?

Totally normal! I work in a nursery and am settling my DS where I work at the moment and I’m still panicking haha! When you start to trust them more it gets easier.

Ah, same position as you! My LB is having his taster hour without me for the first time as we speak. (Finishes at 3pm) I'm anxious to go in and collect him. I hope he didn't get upset when I left :(
It's horrible isn't it?!

Thanks #bluemoon1103 glad to not just me. #elmo311 how was the pick up? My LB has second session for 2 hours tomorrow so will be first time without me then, next week he has two more sessions a bit longer without me and then he starts 3 days a week the week after.

My DD (will be 11 months when she starts) just finished her last taster session today before she starts next week and I’m still anxious. She was fine and didn’t cry at any of them but I’m still very nervous of her going - she’s not great at getting down for naps, although she sleeps great once she’s down, and I worry that they’ll leave her to cry it ojt

So normal! It's a really tough experience for you but honestly after a couple of weeks you'll be alright.

It's great for socialisation and they know what they're doing. It's so, so hard to go from seeing them all the time to trusting someone else with this tiny thing you love.

@Thegirlhasnoname a nursery shouldn't leave her to cry it out, that would be non-standard but don't feel like you can't check. She's your baby and every nursery should let you walk in and out when you want, so walk in and see how it is :)

NeatFreakMama logically I know they won’t leave her to cry it out and they have said they’ll work with her to get her to sleep however she likes. I will feel much better about it when I pick her up and get told she napped without fuss though, hopefully anyway 🤞
