dc aged 1 hates cleaning teeth. Have tried singing songs, letting him brush for a bit, brushing my own teeth, pretending to use his brush on my own teeth, letting him brush my teeth.... but nothing.

He screams and fights, i know i shouldn't pin him down but it's being going on for 6 months.

Please help!

i showed my toddler this and it helped m.youtube.com/watch?v=oStaJTHgHMU

some days, he just couldn't be arsed and it was a battle, so i'd just do them for him after i'd done mine. it's part of his routine so getting better. we use a blue kids toothpaste and i pretend i'm shocked when his teeth are blue, and he laughs.

Unfortunately I need to pin mine down. Quick brush and done.

Constantlurker · 27/08/2019 20:16

For a while it worked for us doing it both sat in front of a mirror. But now it's down to plain old 'pin her down make her laugh and get in there quick!'

I pin down and make him laugh, only way I can get it done! Tried everything like you.

Mabelface · 28/08/2019 11:42

Used to have to pin down and just crack on. At least they have their mouth wide open when they scream. Wink. The phase doesn't last too long, and he'll just let you do it soon.

spey2 · 28/08/2019 11:45

Yep pin down her too Confused she screams blue murder but it's actually much easier to clean her teeth because her mouths wide open Blush

mumoftwocuties · 28/08/2019 11:51

I got a toothbrush for DD2 that flashes for 2 minutes so she has to brush her teeth in that time. It makes it into a bit of a "game"! Although she hated doing it until she was about 18 months old so there's hope for you yet!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/08/2019 16:20

pin mine down...no other way

Rollerbird · 28/08/2019 16:25

Duggee toothbrush song 👍

Caramelchoochoo · 28/08/2019 16:27

pin down here too!! has to be done

ThatFlamingCandle · 28/08/2019 16:27

I give my DD 1.5 my toothbrush and let her do mine at the same time.

LongtimeLurker29 · 28/08/2019 16:28

I use Disney magic timer app on my phone. Gives them a virtual sticker everytime they brush

CarolineKate · 28/08/2019 16:30

My toddler was the same. I ended up just sitting there holding the brush by his mouth (I was just sitting kind of half smiling, just calm and waiting) until he had calmed down for me to do it. At first it was ages. Like 20 mins. But now it's shorter. Like 1 min. I think he likes knowing I won't do it till he's ready. Obviously won't work for every toddler but worth a go!

Another Hey Duggee toothbrushing song fan here and I bought a big 2 minute sand hourglass timer from Amazon too.
