My child cries for daddy most of the days (he works and spends only Saturdays and half Sundays with him +10mins in the evenings). He refuses to go to me and cries when he sees me on the weekend. Today my sister had him and when he saw me he cried and cried that he wants to be with auntie. He is 2 and a half. Please tell me it’s normal and one day we will have a close bond Sad

I suspect it’s a phase. We’ve had one who was relaxed and one complete Mummy’s boy (we both work FT). At 2.5 DS2 would scream if my poor DH tried to take him from me. It lasted about a year (1.5 to 2.5) and since then he’s unbothered (or rather, his clear preference switches so often that there’s no difference). No reason we could work out at all.

I would try and structure some fun stuff with just you him. Like baking or play dough? He might be associating you with boundaries?
