depends if you are classed as a low income family or not.

your local council website should be able to help if not, phone and ask.

Contact your local council housing/ ctax dept. They can send you the forms.

If your income is low then you may well be elligible for help with your rent and council tax also make sure you are getting the correct level of tax credits from HMRC (Revenue and Customs).

The Citizens Advice bureau can help on form filling and working out your entitlements.

Good luck - HTH

there is no bar on people who work fetting HB (and council tax benefit, don't forget that!)

but they will take his income and any tax credits into account.

Agree go to cab or law centre. They will be able to do a benefits calculation also and tell you that you are entitled.

it really dep on your circumstances, how many kids you have, if the council thinks your house is a reasonable size per occupant, etc.

ask the cab about a discretionary housing payment also.

fill this in and follow it through, and read what it says at the end.
