Formula change to neocate

Really hoping someone has done this before.

After taking LO to the gp with constant sickness for 10.5 month, we have finally been prescribed neocate and referred for an allergy test.
He was previously on similac formula but still was sick and had tummy aches etc from it.
My problem is, because its taken so bloody long to get help and be switched, he won't have the new formula. Its obviously not what he's used to so he's really not keen to drink it.
We've been told to go completely dairy free from today onwards so I'm not sure mixing the formulas will help to phase him in?
Really hoping someone can help.

Have you tried a cup? One of mine ended up on neocate and wouldnt go near a bottle but drank it ok from a doidy cup. Mind you if yours is happy with a bottle for other formula that may not work....

Hi, my youngest is now 10 but was on it from the ages 16months to 3 yrs.

I recall some online support and others who struggled said they did mix it with other dairy formula reducing it until just on Neocate. Then could be totally dairy-free I recall some adding flavour to it (cannot remember but vanilla/strawberry syrups ring a bell).

Have a look for support online as I found this benfical.

If your child is dairy-free there's some good sites for help, it is certainly easier since veganism became popular - we had options at the icecream kiosk this year!!!

So sorry it took so long for your son to get diagnosed ! Mine was discovered at 5 months . He would not take it by itself so the paediatrician was ok with mixing starting with 1 scoop and moving up every 2 days so it took 2 weeks for him to take it alone!
The good thing is that he is on solids so you can try different things ? I heard people using nesquick as well ! i know its not ideal !

Thanks all. She just seemed so adimant he needed to be completely dairy free as he is 1 in 6 weeks and she wanted to start the milk ladder from then. It's good to hear others have struggled with the switch. Bless him this afternoon since he had the neocate he's been sicker than ever. Really hoping it improves

We were advised to either do a small part neocate and other part normal formula then slowly increase neocate, this didn't work so we did 10-20mls prune juice/Apple juice to 130mls formula, you can also get flavoured neocate x
