4 week old Rantitadine from GP

My 4 week old has reflux. My older child had it too. GP has just told me she can’t prescribe Rantitadine and can only prescribe Gaviscon due to her age. I’m reluctant to use Gaviscon as it know it causes constipation and it’s such a hassle with breast feeding. Has anyone else been told this?

My dd took it but can't remember how young, maybe 8 weeks

DD was prescribed ranitidine at 4 weeks. She was bf so gaviscone wasn't practical. Ranitidine worked great.

WhiskersPete I had this conversation with the doctor about breast feeding and concerns about constipation but she still wouldn’t prescribe it. She said to try it for 2 weeks which seems an eternity.

I’m tempted to ask for a second opinion.

Yes ask for a second opinion. My DS and DD both had ranitidine at a very young age as Gaviscon didn’t work with breastfeeding.

We had ranitidine as gaviscon didn't work well enough by itself, the difference was amazing with ranitidine. We had it from 3 or 4 weeks.

Thanks all. My own GP prescribed Rantitadine.
