Chicken pox vaccine

Sorry, I know there's a lot of posts on this but I can't find any answering my question.

Ive booked for my 14 month old to have theirs on Friday. Can I expect any temperature or irritability over the weekend?

They have their 13 month vaccinations three weeks ago. I haven't been asked at booking about when these were so presumably it's fine to have them close together?

Thanks!

No side effects at all after my DS had it

Ah. Just read online that the CP vaccine can't be within 4 weeks of the MMR so will need to shift it to the following week.

Would still be useful to hear whether they bounce back fairly quickly or whether I can expect days/weeks with an irritable 1 year old. Which I am seemingly doing 24/7 anyway at the minute so actually probably wouldn't even notice!

Also mine suffered for months after his 1 year jabs so it's not like he doesn't usually react

You need a gap of 4 weeks between the routine Vax and the chicken pox one. You have to go for a second dose several weeks later. The pharmacist will go through it all with you but my DS had a slightly raised temp but no other issues.

My 3 year old DS had his first dose of the vaccine end of July. Around 3/4 days later he was tired and irritable. Then around 10 days after the jab he had another couple of irritable days and a red mark came up at his injection site.

I've got these days marked in my diary for after his second dose in a couple of weeks!

Partysong, I'm wondering if this is what is happening with mine at the minute as she's very irritable and troubled but because the jabs were 3 weeks ago keep thinking it can't be that. Maybe it is!

Thanks yogurt. We are on holiday the week after so will prob be Sept by the time she gets them. Fingers crossed she doesn't get them before then! Eek!

My dd went quiet for a few days -didn't have much energy. No other issues.

My son was about the same age as yours when he had his first chicken pox jab and he had absolutely no reaction to either of them which surprised me as he was quite ill after all the ones he had as a baby

2 of mine have had it and had no side affects at all! Both have had exposure to chicken pox since and neither got it so the vaccine must have done its job! Well worth it imo!!!

Brilliant news. Phew. I know it's better than the alternative but horrible to think of them struggling afterwards when you've elected for it.

Fingers crossed!
