Reflux, cmpa or normal baby?

My DD is 4 weeks (born at 38 weeks at a healthy weight). She is suddenly suffering from lots of trapped wind and I’ve struggled to get her to burp. Vomiting what I would guess are full feeds a couple of times a day, as well as small amounts of spitting up. Twisting and arching her back when I put her down. She has 12+ poos a day, yellow and shiny. I have been on antibiotics for mastitis.

She is bf with one ff a day. She has feed so much over the last 24 hours that my nipples are really sore - 3h 25 mins since midnight. Her older sister has CMPA which was not diagnosed until 11 months although she was medicated for reflux.

How do I know if she has reflux, CMPA or is just a normal baby? Thanks

An exclusion of diary and soy from your diet to see if there is any improvement, but give it a few weeks/month as it takes a while to get out of the system.

I was afraid that you would suggest that as I’ve been relying on DH giving her one bottle of formula so I can have a rest.

Sounds like you're having a tough time OP. Have you been to GP?

Not yet. I didn’t find them helpful with my older DD. It has just started to get worse all of a sudden so not seen them yet. I also find it more helpful if you know what you want rather than going to ask advice.

Assume CMPA. Take it out of your diet. Get the doc to prescribe some allergen formula for when you want to give her a bottle.

I understand, I'm on an elimination diet and it's taking a toll on me and still some things upsetting him! You could ask for a hydrolysed formula and still bottle at night? My son is on Neocate and breast milk!

I’m now starting to suspect nipple/mouth thrush as my nipples are so sore and her fussing but that can be explained by her frequent feeds.

Maybe have a look at symptoms for lactose overload in babies, considering the frequent poos, gas etc. Perhaps eating for comfort if painful gas, thus leading to more of the same?
