Is this teething or something else?

My DD is 19 weeks tomorrow and has a tooth coming through (this is my first btw) pic attached from last week - the little lump near it is just part of her gum this doesn't look as swollen as it is the pic

Today she's been really upset with a screaming cry that sounded like when she had her jabs. She was napping and woke crying (not unusual) but this continued for around 5 - 10 mins (felt like 10 years) until I managed to soothe her by rocking her and she fell asleep on me. She has no high temp, no sickness or the runs, not hot or cold, plenty of wet nappies and is feeding well. Cheeks are little red

I think I know it's teething but I can't help the fear that it's something more sinister. She's been okay again since waking up and is currently feeding now with no issues. I've gave her teething toys, gel and a little bit of calpol (as it sounded like a painful cry)

Is teething a painful cry? Is it like an outburst? Is there anything what worked for your LO? Sorry for any typos I'm writing this with one hand!

Is this teething or something else?

That certainly sounds like teething and I would be fairly confident those are teeth coming through. It really can be horrible for them. I remember when my boy's teeth started moving around in the gums when was a few months old, he was an absolute inconsolable wreck. He still really suffers now and yep will suddenly jump and cry out in pain. Especially when eating. Lots of cuddles was all he wanted. Ibruprofen helped. People swear by Anbesol gel but I haven't tried it. Bless them it is horrible x
