Does anyone do quiet time?

My 2.5 dd is starting to have days where she doesn't want to nap. She's an extremely active toddler so I still think she needs a quiet hour or so just to chill out in the day. Does anyone else do quiet time and if so how did you implement it. Do you put them in their rooms still or have them in the same room?

Still do it with 12/10/8 year olds!

Start off with books, soothing music, just chilling out in room / cot. Over time, reinforce the habit with quiet time activities such as threading, colouring etc.

Especially useful on holiday when they want to be on the go the whole time!

Honestly, it's saved my patience over the years and they know exactly what I mean why I say- go for quiet time...nowadays, it's books or a good app on the tablet. So long as it's quiet, I don't care!

Thanks! I'll put that into action. Just need an hour or two for my own sanity and my dd's. Plus my baby sleeps straight after lunch so it's quite important she's quiet then.

We do here, with a 3 and 4 year old I need the break! My 3 year old still naps sometimes so after lunch they both go to their rooms and can play quietly or bed with their tablets. Gives me a chance to clean up after lunch and have a cup of tea in peace

Yes I do for my 4 year old. He has to stay in his room for an hour and he has a gro clock so he knows when it’s done. He can play with whatever toys he wants, as long as he’s in his room. No screen time.

It definitely took a while to build up, and for him to get used to, but it saves my sanity for sure. My DD naps at the same time so that’s my quiet time too

Yes we did it. A cuddle on the sofa with some books or even a podcast for children works sometimes.
