What do toddling babies wear on their feet?

My LO is 11 months old and his favourite activity is climbing up things and cruising! At home and in our garden he’s bare foot but I’m a bit dubious about this when out and about, in the park etc. I know he’s too young for shoes (I assume?) but socks don’t seem quite enough and are often too slippery. What do other people do?

You will be able to get shoes for an 11 month old, My niece was walking at 11 months. Take him to a decent shoe store and get his wee feet measured. I definitely wouldn't let him just wear socks when at a park etc.

Look at bobux explorers on www.happylittlesoles.com.
Or similar moccasin type shoes. You def don’t want stiff shoes (in my opinion, ever really!) but until a confident walker.

You can get cruising shoes that are softer than regular shoes but still support and protect. Go to Clarks get him measured they have loads there

Clarks sell baby shoes that are literally called “cruisers” IIRC Smile

Great! Thank you everyone. It’s one of those many first time parent things I had absolutely no idea about!

My tiny 14 month old is slowly becoming more confident on his feet (walks independently but still wobbly) he wears "pram shoes" when out & about (the park, supermarket etc) or mocc ons (leather soled slipper socks) as his feet are too small for shoes yet.

We had cruisers from Clarks.

trevthecat · 08/08/2019 15:09

Clarke's do small sizes. My youngest was walking at 9m and was small. We got his first ones from clarkes

Before walking properly by himself my son was either barefoot or wore socks or socks with a leather (or fake leather) sole - all depending on the temperature.
