Baby acne

Hi
My 4 week old appears to have baby acne. It started out as one tiny spot under her eye now it's all over her face and behind her ears.
Has anyone else had experience of this or does anyone know if there's anything I can do to help?
It's not itching her it just looks unfortunate.

My baby had this she's 9 weeks now and it's fine. There's nothing you can do except wait it out - I had her at the doctor for her 2 week check up when it was on her face and near her eyes as well and he said it will go away of it's own accord.
It did without us doing anything about it and it never bothered her. Enjoy her xx

@ineedagirlsname Thanks for your story. Glad to hear it settles down.

I took her to doctors this morning and they reassured me so I feel a lot better. I think cuz she's been screaming for 2 days none stop I was worried as she hasn't been herself, but feel much better now.

My boy had quite a lot of spots when he was first born. They cleared up on their own in a few weeks x

Haworthia · 08/08/2019 22:08

It does go away by itself, promise.

20viona · 08/08/2019 23:08

@ineedagirlsname they just said it's normal and will settle. I'm trying some coconut oil overnight to see if there is any improvement. Iv cried all day on and off as I just feel so guilty and sorry for her.

It’s nothing to worry about. Lots of babies get it mildly and it just goes away in time. There is a cream that the dr can prescribe called fucidin if it gets really bad if I remember rightly. My ds got it really badly and had antibiotics and he looked so uncomfortable with it. I remember crying and being so worried about it leaving scars etc but it cleared up in no time and he was left with perfect skin.

Don’t feel guilty, she’ll be fine, just give her a cuddle and get some rest when you can.

DD had AWFUL baby acne - she's 18 weeks now and it's totally cleared up! It's horrible I know but it goes away!

20viona · 09/08/2019 21:21

@RosiePosies did you find anything that helped? It's just so upsetting.

@20viona you're going to hate me, but nothing but time really helped. We kept keep it clean etc. I have heard that breast milk is supposed to help but I never actually tried it myself!

She got cradle cap at the same time - it was just awful, but her skin is gorgeous now! This was her at 5 weeks and her now at 18

Hi! My 5 week old has this too, it's sometimes more aggressive looking and seemed to move about his face/neck/ears. Health visitor said it's hormonal

I did try coconut oil but found it aggregated it, I have been using palmers baby butter and it's worked a treat for us

Don't be upset it's completely normal at this age Smile

20viona · 09/08/2019 22:25

@Zackisback878 ah thanks il try that if this doesn't help!

@RosiePosies bless glad to see it's cleared up! It literally looked identical to that too.

Poor little babies!

Hi All! Sorry to jump on the band wagon but I’m pulling my hair out! Dd is 5 weeks old and for the past 2 weeks has had a progressively worsening rash/spots on her face. Dr doesn’t seem to be able to pinpoint what it is. Health visitor said baby acne but now not so sure either?! Any suggestions? It looks so bad poor soul!

@Findmea that looks exactly like my daughters! Doc said neonatal acne but I agree Iv cried so much this last week about it! Iv been using kokoso coconut oil which seems to have improved it a little.

Findmea · 15/08/2019 23:21

@20viona aw it’s so hard to see them like that and not be able to take it away isn’t it! I actually saw an article about Kokoso when I googled about it & wondered if it was worth a try...I’ll give anything a go at this point! Thanks so much! Hope it clears up for ur Dd really soon xx

20viona · 16/08/2019 01:33

@Findmea you too! Please let us know how you get on.

Findmea · 16/08/2019 07:28

@20viona I sure will! Going to get some kokoso this morning and give it a try will let u know how we get on

feelingsicknow · 17/08/2019 16:16

My DS had it around the same age - it lasted around a month if I remember correctly. Didn't do anything for it - left it alone and it will go away. It's very common. X
