Anyone ever challenged Boots on the parenting club giveaway stuff- they offer a free changing bag with a pack of nappies- what if i don't want to buy any nappies-ie use washables from day 1)? Just wondered if anyone had ever asked

Isn't it sponsered by Huggies anyway? At least it used to be. So you wouldn't want anything to do with it then, or would you???

i just bought the pack of nappies as although i will be using cloth we are on day 10 with dd and just waiting for cord to drop off as our wraps go a bit high for her just now. i picked the huggies badge off the bag and thought it may come in handy! find it quite amusing the effort the companies go to to get your business, the only vouchers you seems to get are for nappies, so i just give them to friends.

Its irritating isn't it?

no its pampers now- but the bag etc aren't branded- it was just my pregnancy hormones getting a bit wound up to be fair! I think its off because even those who use washables will buy liners etc from boots- surely a giveaway should be avaliable to everyone no matter what their choice!

If you were posting under AIBU, my response would be YABU . It's a promotion to get people to buy a particular product. Why should they give one to you without buying that product? It would be like going into a shop during the sales and expecting to buy a non-sale item at sale price.

preggersagain · 03/08/2007 11:33

but its not pampers baby club is it- its boots' and i buy liners/wipes/everything under the sun from the place- just think its wrong to exclude someone who is spending in the store from their baby club giveaway!

Same difference. The baby club is not there to help make your life easier ( no matter what their promotional material may say). It's there to encourage you to buy your baby gear from their shop rathe rthan from a competitor. They want ot get yu away from wahsables - which bring them no income - and spend more money in their shop.

They sell washables! and the less money i'm lining pampers' pockets with the more money i can spend on toiletries, cosmetics, boots baby clothes etc! I'm pregnant and hormaonal and i won't be budged on this- i've also just had an email from Boots- they apologise and agree that it is excluding some parents from a parenting club and will send me the bag direct from head office with compliments! RESULT!!!

Hurrah!

horsemadgal · 03/08/2007 12:33

Well done preggersagain, good result.

Tortington · 03/08/2007 12:46

i'm glad it's one in the eye for 'THE MAN'

nice one

PrettyCandles · 03/08/2007 13:53

Well done! Maybe I'm just too cynical LOL.

preggersagain · 03/08/2007 15:59

Goes to prove a point though- it isn't a 'pampers club' it is a Boots parenting club- a parenting club from a shop which sells a choice of nappies but who was discriminating the minority!

I am rather good at writing snotty letters though!
