9yo dd is desperate for a phone. I think she is too young and whilst some children in her class have phones it's another year before virtually all children have them.
She has seen an advert for a spacetalk phone/watch and is asking if she can have this as a compromise. I'm wondering if it's an ideal half way house.
I'm balking at the price though and wondering if anyone had any experience of this or any cheaper models. Frustratingly there appears to be no mid market, just this and a number of much cheaper ones that get a number of bad reviews.
If it's relevant dd has suspected (high functioning) autism and a big concern is I don't think she is ready for eg WhatsApp but this would just be a phone with the app giving us a lot of control. She suffers from anxiety and loves the idea of the sos button.
Any advice appreciated
