Feeling guilty - did I make DS do too much?

Today I took 4-yr-old (5 next month) out in London as he was desperate to visit one of the attractions and we had a voucher for it.

Before this I took him to the docs on Harley St as I needed a blood test.

We then went to the attraction in Westminster.

We then got a cab to my office (5 mins) so he could see our office dog.

Then we went home on the tube.

So all in all we drove to our local station, walked from car park, approx 7 mins. Tube to Regent's Park. Walked to Harley St then down to Oxford Circus. Tube to Westminster, walked to attraction. Black cab to office then 7 min walk to tube home. Walk to car park other end.

I've just checked my steps app and we've done nearly 10,000 steps!

Feel guilty now that I made him do too much in this heat? He had a cold drinks and was drinking water regularly but he was whinging about walking and saying are we there yet, but he always does that?!

It depends on speed how much he is used to walking . I have 3 year old minded children who walk about a mile to school and back twice a day ( obviously not during the school holidays ) but they are used to it .

How is your dc now ? So long as they are fine don’t worry. I went for a walk today that ended up at the park. Ran out of steam walking but plenty of energy to run round park

Course not! We had family visiting at the weekend and were out on foot from 10am to 5pm. A short sit down in a park (20 mins or so) but otherwise up and walking about. Mine coped fine as they are used to walking (4 and 7). Once home one of the adults fitbits said 14k steps so presumably more for kids.

My 4\5 year old would easily walk 10-15,000 steps a day

I think it grand but we would be a very active family

Sounds fine! I just got back from london with my 6 and 4 year old and just checked my watch- we did 14k steps and walked everywhere. They both whined a bit but they'll sleep well!

My 4 year old did 33,000 steps in one day when we went to Disneyland, he didn't moan once. Why would you be worried? Was he upset?
