Applying for passport for baby

Wasn't sure of what topic to list under. I filled out the online form and they require me to send birth certs (original) for both sets of grandparents. I don't know my father and OH doesn't know his mother... so... I'll call the home office. But has anyone applied and gotten their baby a passport without grandparents documents? It's impossible for me to provide!! We were both born after 82.

@HJ82 I expect it is the expired passport creating the problem - if you look at the quoted text from @dementedpixie then you'll see a passport number is required so if it's not a valid number then more info will be needed.
Good luck - although I'm sure once your partner's passport is renewed you won't need it!

But it would have been valid at the time of the birth and that's what they need to prove I.e. that at the time of the birth the father was a British citizen. He doesn't stop being a British citizen just because the passport has expired.

It will be because the OP has put her own details first plus the online service seems to default to ask for all details even if they arent required.
