Shark teeth- teeth growing behind teeth

My dd is just about to turn 6. Today when she was talking to me I noticed a whitish red lump behind her bottom teeth and when I looked more closely I realised that the lumps were actually new teeth starting to erupt. They are set back quite far away from the two milk teeth they are behind so don't look like they're going to push the old ones out and they're completely out of line with the rest of her teeth.

Is this normal? Will the old ones fall out on their own even though there is nothing pushing them up? Will the new teeth eventually move into the correct position in line with the rest of the teeth?

Yes it’s normal. My daughter had several teeth that did this and she’s got a nice set of teeth now.

They could be mesiodens which will need surgical removal. Worth a dental visit to be sure. Xray can tell.

Happened with DD's front bottom 2, the baby teeth fell out & the new ones moved into the gap. You'd never know now they were ever behind.

Very odd watching them move, could literally see a difference every 2/3 days!

Ask your dentist at the next checkup to be sure. This happened to my DD and we had to get the old teeth removed as they were not budging! Like her parents, she has a very small mouth so needed additional extractions and a brace anyway.

It only happened in one area though, the rest of the teeth fell out as normal.

I had 3 sets in some places, so I had molars in the roof of my mouth and a couple on the bottom. I had to have them taken out (plus a few extra ones for braces) but you'd never know now

My son had this last year. It took a while for the baby teeth to become loose but they did eventually fall out and his adult teeth are now lovely and in position with the others - dentist is happy with them as well. It did look weird at the time!

Both of my kids had these. Most of the baby teeth fell out fine, but they each had a few removed eventually. No big deal, just some light numbing and they came out fine

After I commented on this DS came and told me his mouth was bleeding and there’s another tooth growing in behind a baby tooth - what a weird coincidence. It was his bottom front two last time and now one of the top.

I had them, top bottom. Baby teeth removed, bottom pushed forward by tongue. I had a temporary thing on my bottom teeth which pushed top forward. Couple if months and all fine.
