My dd has her mmr vaccination tomorrow, is it any different to the others?

Waiting now. She's had 5ml calpol about ten minutes ago so it'll kick in when she has them. Hopefully makes it less bad

When she has a fever you do whatever you'd do if she got sick from a bug, it's no different. My daughter had high fever for 4 days after her MMR vaccine - yes, it's not fun, but it's not a big deal either.

But why did you give her medicine before her vaccine? Paracetamol is a painkiller and reduces fever, used only when necessary! It's not candy you give your child in order to keep it quiet for a shot!

She won't stop crying :(

@SmartPlay excuse me? Did I say I was trying to keep my baby "quiet" I was advised by a doctor thanks so don't be so quick to judge. You've clearly never heard of it! Even the nurse said have I given her any before hand and I said yes! Every child is different thanks!

I thought that giving Calpol after the Men B vaccinations was recommended to reduce the chances of baby getting a fever?
And there’s usually a Men B booster given at the same time as the first MMR jab, so.

OP, hope your DD’s all back to normal soon.

Bobbiepin · 19/07/2019 08:19

@SmartPlay that was unnecessarily bitchy. OP is following the guidance given by medical professionals. The fever related to the Men B vaccination is a reaction that can be prevented so giving calpol is reducing discomfort and stress to her child.

SmartPlay · 19/07/2019 09:55

@flower8169
If that was recommended by the doctor, then I'm sorry for my comment!

flower8169 · 19/07/2019 12:11

My dd only has it before because of how badly she takes to them she's done it every time. I would never think of giving her it as a way to keep quiet, that'd be ridiculous. No worries @SmartPlay yes it was advised by her doctor

She was up till 3 am crying a lot then she was sick too ☹️ looks much better today 👍🏻
