11 month still no teeth!

I’m getting slightly worried DD2 still has no teeth! DD1 had her first tooth around 6/7 month mark.
Is it silly for me to be worried? I know you do hear of babies getting their teeth later but isn’t that quite rare?

DS didn’t get his first tooth until six weeks off his first birthday. He had them all by the time he was two and a half. He’s been registered with a dentist since three months old, when I went for a check up, and she wasn’t concerned at when they came in or that a couple also came in out of order when they did appear.

Aquamarine1029 · 07/07/2019 20:02

Why haven't you taken her to a dentist? 11 months is very long overdue.

historygeek · 07/07/2019 20:02

DS didn't get his first tooth until he was 13 months. They all came through pretty quickly after that and gave him no bother. He's just turned 3 and has the whole set now.

DD didn’t have any teeth till just gone one and her girls are the same. My oldest DGD is coming up 4 and has only had a complete set for about 7 months. The youngest is the same age as yours and doesn’t have a single one yet either. Dentist says it’s on the late side but nothing to worry about.

LookAtThatRedSheep · 07/07/2019 20:04

My oldest Ds was 14 months for the first tooth! He didn’t lose his baby teeth til later either and at 14 still has 2 left. Dentist said it’s better for him as he should keep his adult teeth til he’s an old old man 🤣

Sandsnake · 07/07/2019 20:06

Aqua - I think the NHS guidance is to take a child to the dentist when milk teeth first appear so ‘very long overdue’ seems a little alarmist.

Utter nonsense. Good grief people spout some shit on here!

OP it's fine, not rare, they'll come through in their own good time,it's actually better if they take their time coming through ( dentist told me)

That's complete and utter shite. Why come onto a parenting forum and spout such rubbish without even a cursory google. 11 months is well within the realms of not at all concerning.

DD1 had several teeth by the time they were 1, DD2 had 2 just and so poke through in the days around her first birthday.

Both completely normal dentally.

pickleface · 07/07/2019 20:15

My dd had no teeth at 1 and about 6 at 2. At 14 she's still not lost all her baby teeth. Dentist isn't arsed at all. Just the way it is sometimes. Apparantly.

grumpypug · 07/07/2019 20:18

My DS didn't get teeth until about 14 months, then he got 8 in 2 weeks. He didn't lose them until he was almost 8 and has only just lost the last of his baby teeth (he's almost 16)!

Lairydea · 07/07/2019 20:18

My nephew didn't have a single tooth on his first birthday - they all came through out of order within a few months of that. My second DC has had 4 front teeth (2 top, 2 bottom) since she was 8 months - she's just cut 7 in the last two weeks!

Rosemary46 · 07/07/2019 20:22

Don’t worry , it’s completely normal, the timing is very variable between children. Just make sure you have some Calpol in the house because she will probably get a dozen through in the space of a month.

Tinks15 · 07/07/2019 20:36

Thanks all & especially your input Aqua
I was literally about to say I’ve never heard of anyone taking their baby to the dentist at 11 months due to having no teeth yet!

I just needed to hear some reassurance my baby isn’t the only one that hasn’t got teeth yet! Hopefully they will start appearing soon.
Getting a bit fed up of people asking week in week out... ‘any teeth appeared yet’?

Bollocks. DS got his first at 13 months, had all of them by 2 and never teethed once. They all just popped out.

DD got first at 11 months.

2beautifulbabs · 08/07/2019 11:30

My DS didn't get his first tooth until he was 13months old and now he has all his teeth they just came in one after the other bless so although he was late teething and I too use to worry that he'd have no teeth they eventually came in

IDontWantToBuildASnowman · 08/07/2019 15:42

DD first tooth didn't come until 14 months. All came in the end. Upside is first tooth was not lost until 8 years.

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 08/07/2019 15:46

Ds2 got his first at 13mo. I too was worried cos ds1 got his first at about 5mo. Health visitor was reassured me that it was normal.

EmrysAtticus · 08/07/2019 15:49

DS was 15 months. I found teething a doddle with an older child who could communicate and dentist wasn't bothered in the slightest.

greenlynx · 08/07/2019 15:57

My DD was 13 months, she’s got 2 basically one after another and then nothing for 6 months.
She’s losing her baby teeth slower as well.

Pipandmum · 08/07/2019 15:59

No teeth til 13 months for my son. Has a great set now (15)!

IDontGiveABagOfDicks · 08/07/2019 16:02

2 of my DC had 6-8 teeth by 6 months old. Youngest didn’t have any teeth till 16 months old and then they all seemed to come through at once.

shivbo2014 · 08/07/2019 17:06

DD was 15 months for her 1st tooth! I did bring her dentist before that as I was a bit worried. They said it was normal...

changingnam · 08/07/2019 18:26

DS was 18 months when he got his first tooth, I was super excitedGrin

Tinks15 · 08/07/2019 19:15

Thank you everyone this has really reassured me that it’s totally normal!

In the meantime I will stock up on calpol as no doubt once one pops through the rest will follow pretty quickly.
