Our GP has swapped us over to Aptamil Pepti 1. Baby has a mild allergy to the cows milk formulas. Just got it from the pharmacy. Omg is stinks like dog food and is watery as hell. She’s screaming when I try to feed her. Anyone else’s baby have a problem switching over to this formula and how long did it take for them to get used to it?

Hi, we had the same problem, and were advised by dietician to mix half old formula with new formula, then gradually make it just the new formula. The new formula didn't help so ended up back on original.

I'm on Nutramigen for my DD. She didn't hate the taste of it so didn't have an issue that way but I was advised the same as PP to gradually wean her into by mixing it with her old formula at first. Also have heard of people adding a bit of vanilla extract to make it taste nicer - I never had to do either of these things though so not sure how successful they would be.

In terms of the wateryness I have to add a scoop of Carobel to mine to get it a bit thicker as she was spitting up so much as it's so thin. 1 scoop makes it about the same thickness as normal milk.

Good luck! Hope it starts to help, it has taken us a good few weeks to finally get her settled so just persevere with it and keep going back to the GP until you find the right solution!
