HELP! Tips for walking dog with baby and toddler!

I've just moved back into my house after having the house done up. I was living at my mums so was walking the dog with her since my dc2 was born. Now I'm back home and have no idea how I'm going to walk my baby and my toddler together with the dog. Does anyone have any suggestions?

How old is the toddler? Which bit is tricky?

Lizbiz89 · 01/07/2019 10:24

My toddler is 2 and 3 months. My baby is easy as I can put him in sling but I'm not sure what do with toddler. Also my dog is big which doesn't help much lol.

Double pushchair or a buggy board?

Or sling and a pushchair?

You can get dog leads that go round your waist though with a heavy dog that might be tricky.

I'm currently doing dog walks with a dog and pram, it's not too bad although dog tries to walk as close to the pram as humanly possible OR run off to play, there is no in between.

However he is only 2.5kg so much easier to control I guess. He's also very good when I tell him to stop/wait/walk closely.

Thanks! Just tried walking with baby in carrier and toddler holding my hand. It worked quite well but my toddler is poorly today so ended in tears unfortunately. Going to give it another go tomorrow!

I second getting a waist belt for hands free dog walking.
But baby in a sling is a good idea too.

I have a baby and a dog, deffo go for a lead around the waist.

Baby in sling, balance bike for the toddler (you can loop a scarf/rope over the handle bars if you're near traffic/need to help them up a hill...)

I'm struggling with the same problem.
A sling is great until you need to pick up after the dog. Then it feels like baby will tip out of the top.
The best way for us is with baby in pushchair, pushing and holding dog with one hand and toddler holding on to other hand when were near roads. When we get to the woods I can let the toddler and the dog have a run.

Used to have 2 dogs and 3 children 5 and under. Double pram (out and about) was the safest option for us. Then moved to single when middle child was 3.5. Tried sling but found it difficult picking up poo at times and also managing the two leads plus 3yo. For us, defo double pram was the best solution.

Baby in sling, toddler in pushchair, dog on waist strap - done

Pram for baby, buggy board for toddler and dog lead on wrist is how I did it. Otherwise double buggy?
