Teething?

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this one.

My 19mnth old son seems to be teething really badly. Which teeth would be coming in at this stage? He hasn't been this bad before. His tops/bibs are soaking and he is waking up screaming and pulling his chin/ears seemingly in pain.

I'm giving Nurofen for kids and calpol. Should I check it out with the docs as well do you think?

My oldest dd was probably getting molars at this stage, or maybe canines (ones after front four).
Younger dd - 15ms is only just getting her first, so it does depend how many your son has already.

Have you tried calgel for his gums. Also is it possible that he has an ear infection if his is pulling at his ears ?

Definitely echo JaneyT's thought re: earache.

My 19mnth old dd has been waking up in night/off food/dribbling and had a high temperature that could only be bought down by Nurofen. We thought it was teething but after 4 days of this we took her to Docs who diagnosed a nasty ear-infection. So IMO, I'd get it checked out with the Docs.

Niceglasses- my money'd be on an ear infection too, I'd pop to the docs if I were you .Good luck .

I posted this under the health thread a few days ago, but I had exactly the same problem with my 14 month old - her front teeth caused no problem but the next ones had her crying and cranky, like a different child. It went on for over a week so I took her to the doctor's who checked her out and confirmed it was teething. He was able to prescribe Ibuprofen syrup which has worked wonders as Calpol wasn't touching the pain. I wanted to pass this on as I wouldn't have thought doctors could do anything for teething but this seems to have worked right away.
