Chicken Pox AND impetigo

So my poor DS (16 months) has chicken pox AND impetigo. We have anti biotics for the impetigo and I'm just calamine lotioning the pox. He's so bloody sad though. Any tips/ideas for easing the uncomfortableness? He doesn't seem to be itching/scratching too much, just wriggly and crying.

Impetigo and chicken pox is very common because little ones scratch and invariably have bugs under their nails.
Mittens if he’ll tolerate them to stop further scratching but definitely keep impetigo covered, if possible.

Cooling baths - warming rather than cold. Paracetamol to reduce discomfort and reduce inflammation a little. Adding oats to the bath is meant to help.
Antihistamine might help the itching but it would need a prescription in an under two.
Then distraction, a cool room, natural fibre, loose clothing.
