Hi mammas , my DD is approaching the age where I need to start thinking about introducing solids. Any tips on weaning? Any good equipment used etc

I love the idea of baby led weaning but I am terrified of her choking , so would like to start with purée :)

Thank you

I’d really recommend doing a baby first aid course if you’re able to. Or at least watching lots of videos on choking and what to do (and how it’s very different to gagging which is completely normal). My LO is 9 months now and we’re doing a mixture of spoon feeding and finger foods which works well for us. Good luck!

At 6 months you need to give finger foods to develop the muscles needed for speech so definitely do a first aid course, watch YouTube video choking v gagging. IKEA for all equipment. Remember to give the main allergen foods quickly to reduce the chance of them developing an allergy.

First aid course. YouTube videos of gagging Vs choking are useful. Plastic bowls etc from IKEA. We did BLW after he refused a spoon and it was the best option for us - he eats pretty much everything and it made it really easy to just give him what we're having.
