Baby baths newborn

Hello

Baby number 1 due in September and I am starting to think about things I will need.
I have a big free standing bath which is very deep. I was wondering if anyone else has one of these and what they used to bath their newborn? Not sure whether to get a separate baby bath that I can just use in the bathroom but not in the bath to save my back or one of those ones that rests on top of bath but drains down the main bath's plughole. Or in fact just suck it up and get a newborn support seat for the bath?
Thanks!

We are still using this at 4.5 months, our baby loves it. It doesn't need much water so we just fill it and bath her on a table/change station to save our backs.

Shnuggle bath is brilliant. Wish I'd brought it sooner!

Thanks, I did have a look at that in my initial search so good to have some recommendations!

I've had 3 babies and the shnuggle was only available with my last. It's definitely the best get one of those! No wrestling with slippery babies involved Smile

Shnuggle it is then - thank you :-)

I also love the Shnuggle - the bum rest and padded back bit is great!

Angelcare bath support. Not expensive and can use it from birth all the way till they are sitting independently. I do t know what a schnuggle is so don't know how long you can use it for.

The bump in the shnuggle is brilliant- babies are slippery buggers so it's great that you can properly steady them with one hand and wash with the other. DSis used the shnuggle up until DNeice was sitting confidently in the sink or bath. Because of the small footprint you can often also place the shnuggle in the kitchen sink, so saves your back and less worry about splashing, and it uses hardly any water.

We used a tummy tub, which is basically a bucket! It worked well.

Despite its popularity we couldn’t get away with the shnuggle for our newborn as our baby’s head control wasn’t great so we felt like he would slip under and that kind of defeated the object of hands free. It was sent back. We got on much better with the anglecare bath support.

The Angel care and shnuggle were both options I was looking at but am leaning more towards the shnuggle just because our bath is so big and I worry I will be in agony bending over into it constantly when just using a support seat!

We've got a Shnuggle. We stand it on the toilet seat and sit on the side of the bath when we are using it. My baby is nearly 4 months and there's still plenty of room in it although as someone else said we did have to hold his head for the first month or so.

Whatever you decide (angelcare or Shnuggle) don't buy it new though, we got ours in a charity shop for £6 and I'm constantly seeing them at baby second hand sales, Facebook market place etc. To be honest, you don't really need to buy that many things new other than a mattress and a car seat.
