Finding a new job while on mat leave

I’ve gotten myself more confused looking into this - so hoping someone can help!

I’m currently on maternity leave, which officially ends Jan 2020. Due to financial reasons (and a bit of being ready to use my brain again) I’ve told my current employer I would return to work in October.

However, for various reasons I don’t really want to return to my old job. But I’ve got two questions about this...

  1. How would handing in my notice work? My contract is a 3mo notice period
  1. Ideally I’d like my new job to be part time (work 4 days a week, 1 from home). When during the interview process would you bring this up?

Thanks

I've done it, no problems. The notice period is as it would be if you were on leave. Having applied for a lot of jobs wanting part time, I've done a mixture of asking at application stage and interview. Tbh I think application stage is best because then nobody is wasting their time with pointless interviews, but opinion on here varies on that point.
