Not settling in nursery

Hi, been on Mumsnet for a few years but never posted in this forum before.

I have a 16mo dd. She's meant to be starting nursery on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We did all the settling in sessions but whenever I left, she would completely freak out to the point that she vomited all over a member of staff.
Starting again with the settling in sessions with me in the room but whenever I stand up, she thinks I'm leaving and will lose it.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and had a good outcome? I don't want her to be distressed every time I leave her there.

How many settling in sessions has she had?

That must be really hard. I haven’t been through anything similar as our children both settled in pretty easily in nursery. Would it be possible for your partner to do the settling in instead? Often babies settle more easily with their fathers than their mothers. My husband did the nursery and kindergarten settling in for our eldest daughter and on each occasion the staff said it’s generally easier with dads.

She's had about 8 now and the standard is 3.

Unfortunately my Dh works full time and getting time off is near impossible for him. I was thinking it may be easier with him but it's just not possible.
