So it’s my MIL 70th birthday next week and all of my OH family want to take her dog racing in the evening but they want the whole family to go which includes my 2.5yr old boy. Am I unreasonable to not want to take him? It would be from 6pm - 9:30/10pm and there is nothing there for him to do.

YANBU. A bored, tired, 2 and a half yr old is hardly going to add to anyone's enjoyment. Surely he can spend some time with her earlier in the day? If your family don't get that, they're being both unreasonable and ridiculous.

Not a chance I would be going.
If there’s nothing for kids to do there, then how is it fair on your kid or you? You won’t be able to take part in any of it anyway because you’ll be busy with a bored, tired toddler.

Just to add, they aren't just being unreasonable and ridiculous, they're being quite unkind to your toddler.
