Stopping thumb sucking

Hello
My Dc is almost 7 and getting big teeth. She’s a really big thumb sucker and it’s starting to push out her front teeth, she really needs to stop. Painting the stuff on her nail doesn’t help at all though, she’ll just put up with the taste. Any other tips for how to encourage stopping thumb sucking?

DD#2 stopped through using mavala nail bitter stuff (it tastes worse / lingers more than stop n gro). This did not work for DD#1 though, who is 7 nearly 8. We seem to have cracked it by promising a (reasonably expensive) present that she really really wanted if she managed to stop. She is 5 weeks into the 6 week period of our deal and I have not seen her suck her thumb the whole time so I think it has hopefully worked.

Physically socks over hands taped on tight!

With the carrot of a gift, if all else fails the dentist can fit a mouth guard but it's not cheap...
