Speech therapy

My 2 year old has his first speech and language therapy appointment next week and I was hoping other parents that have children that have gone through this could tell me what to expect please?

When mine had speech therapy many year ago it started with a standardized assessment test so that the therapist could know where he was in his development and what skills were weak and needed to be worked on. It's all pretty scientific.
