How to improve teeth brushing (toddler)

Teeth brushing seemed to start well when we introduced it when teeth first came through

Dc is now 2 and it’s a struggle and it ends up one of us holding him down to do it

He also stays occasional at grandparents and I find that no teeth brushing happens there as DC hates it so much

Is this going to ruin DC’s teeth?

What can I try to improve this?

We got a book called sugar monsters. Overnight, I had to catch the sugar monsters in his mouth. Worked a treat.
