How long would you leave a 10 and a 12 year old for?

Wondering about starting going to the gym in the afternoons. Both DCs are happy to be left, the eldest has been on her own in the afternoons for a couple of hours a few times, but I've not left them both together for longer than about half an hour.

If I ran to the gym, did a workout and ran back it'd be about 1.5 hours. Do you think that's reasonable to leave them for that long?

We go out in the evening to restaurants and leave them to it. 2 DC's, 10 & 12. We just have a 10-minute rule. We make sure we're no further than 10 minutes away from the house, so we can get back quickly if there's a crisis. It's transformed our social life.

Yep fine.

Brilliant, I'll stop worrying and get on with it! Thanks for the reassurance.

I have a 12 (nearly 13) and 8 year old.
The eldest is fine to be left, but I haven't left them both together. Do you think it would be safe?

TantricTwist · 10/06/2019 09:51

Yes it'll be fine.
