To express or not to express?

I am going back to work at the end of this month for 2 full days. My son is one years old and still breastfeeding, the days can really vary of how much he wants it. When I have pumped previously I have never ever managed to express much at all.

For these two days il be working, should I attempt to express for him, or tell my MIL (who will be watching him) to give him fresh milk? Also do I give this in a bottle? He has never drank from a bottle and only now drinks water from his sippy cups. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I wouldn't express. My DD went to nursery 2 days at 12mo and had cows milk in a cup at nursery and then BF at home. She fed as normal on the days I wasn't at work.

At that age, you won't really need to express for him. He can just have milk when you're together. However, you may want to hand express for comfort of you feel engorged, while your milk production is adjusting.

At the age of one I definitely wouldn't bother TBH. Your supply will work around this and he'll be fine with food and water in the day.
