I'm thinking of trying flat nappies with baby so thought I might get some to try on DS now.

I LOVE bamboo so thought about these, but am open to other suggestions

What are your opinions?

Oh, and will I need nippas? I use a woolly wrap

I love my bamboo flat squares, I pad fold them and find them great. They dry very quickly which is great with this weather. I feel they give you the benefits of a bamboo shaped nappy (slimness and absorbancy) without the downside (the long drying time.)

I pad fold them and fit them in a snug fitting wrap as I can't get to grips with nippas. This is fine on my toddler, but you may find poo containment not as good on a young baby if you don't nippa them. It shouldn't escape the wrap, but you may find you need a few more wraps.

The only downside I have found is it seems really important to get a wrap which fits your child very well. I'm struggling a bit at the moment as ds seems to have changed shape and I'm finding that the wraps that don't fit snuggly round the leg do leak, but this is a wrap problem not the nappies.

I would definately reccomend giving them a go as they are so much cheaper than shaped nappies and they dry so much quicker. (we're talking hours rather than days!)

I'm useless with padfolding, and with a wool wrap you are better off with a proper fold anyway.

Nippas are easiest

I want some of these to save on buying size one nappies for baby no 2- I already have 10 newborn and 12 size one but am somehow worried that won't be enough?!?
Thought they'd be especially good as bubs is due in dec and will have 2 in cloth (dd is in bamboo shapeds) and may end up with a house full of drying nappies.

i got some in stock and trialed at weekend on a wriggly 8 month old - i folded my shape laid him on it then fought to nippa him in it - it got easier by the 4th go and they did the job - i wouldnt keep it up on my ds as he on the move but i can see how it would work on a baby well, a cheaper alternative and they are so soft and folding flat i have found q quick to dry. I would practise your folds a zillion times on a doll before you try the real thing so you know where your firing at... my first try looked a mess!

LOL, no only the pull up kind worked for us when DS was crawling and prob for 3-4 months, but now he can be still (if he wants to of course ), so thought this would be the greatest time to try them out on DS so I am an expert ready for bab

Another question: Do I need more than 1 nippa?

well they come in packs of three but you only need one for most the folds i have seen (the folds i tried are on a big list onthe nappy lady and i was doing some jo fold thing) but i havent been that experimental with my folding really. Wow so theres hope he will become less fighty with me! Must admit my dd's cabbage patch kid doesnt have much of a belly so i really had to nippa him in and first go ermmm i pulled a thread on his belly - poor Drew! lol! DD hasnt noticed his wound as have donated a vest to his cause. (drew is the cabbage patch kid not my ds before you judge!). I am gettign quite deft with a nippa on day 3 now and am even partial to a nippa bambenio/ bambinex rather than a aplix aswell (check me out!!), hes in a size 2 now so its fits better nippad.

great news nappyzone, sorry to hear about dd's cabbage patch kid though
