Baby has been sleeping all day!

Hi all.

Baby girl will be 12 weeks old on Thursday. Today she has slept almost constantly! She woke up at 8am, had a feed, then fell asleep at 10am and didn't wake until 1pm. She woke at 1pm, had another feed, and then fell right back to sleep and is still asleep now!

This is unusual for her, as normally she rarely sleeps for longer than 30-45 minutes at a time during the day. She sleeps quite well at night though (bed at 10:30pm, usually only wakes up once at around 5am and then straight back to sleep until 8/9am).

She doesn't have a fever or anything, and when she is awake she's smiley and alert. She's also having wet nappies. I'm a FTM so everything is a worry!

Thanks Smile

Any jabs recently?

CobaltRose96 · 04/06/2019 15:27

@OnlyFoolsnMothers nope, she’s got her 12 week jabs next week.

My bet is she is gearing up for a growth spurt. Both of mine did the same thing at that age. So long as she seems well, is eating, regular nappies, no fever, etc, I'm sure she is perfectly fine! It's a lot of hard work being a growing baby!

Definitely getting a growth spurt on. One of my babies was a big snoozy sleeper. How lovely!

Test for diabetes

Diabetes onset makes you sleep a lot

moleeye · 04/06/2019 15:34

Mine is 11 weeks and that's pretty much his normal routine.

He wakes at 7.30, has a feed, stays awake an hour then sleeps until about 10.30. Up for a feed, then pretty much back down until 1, up for a feed down until 4, up then we collect my eldest from nursery.

He then sleeps 6-8pm, up for a feed and I put him down at 9. He wakes twice in the night for a feed then same again.

He's barely awake. My daughter was the same up until about 4.5 months. Both of them like to sleep!

I'd say growth spurt coming your way x

Bit of a leap to jump straight to diabetes!

CobaltRose96 · 04/06/2019 15:40

@ElfishBiatch I was a bit Hmm at that too. She has none of the other symptoms!

Diabetes test because a baby sleeps for three hours?!

HollowTalk · 04/06/2019 15:47

I would perhaps wake her up for a bit, OP. See what she's like. If she's happy and smiley then, all well and good. Is it raining there? It is here and the sound is making me want to sleep!

CobaltRose96 · 04/06/2019 16:16

Thanks all! She woke up just minutes after I posted this (typical... Grin

She is fine, smiley and her usual contented self. Also, she JUST rolled over for the first time! ❤️

CobaltRose96 · 04/06/2019 16:55

@HollowTalk Grin As soon as I got the phone out to record her she wouldn’t do it again! Sod’s law!

I found mine slept more & then slept less just before they managed to do something physical (rolling, sitting, crawling etc) then once they'd mastered whatever it was they were working towards they went back to "normal"
