Kids tablets

Both my older DC have kids fire tablets. The youngest is 4 and is happy on the Amazon kids app which means that he can only access child friendly apps and books. The older DC is 7, nearly 8 and has figured out how to bypass the kids app. I keep catching her on YouTube although she knows that she's not allowed.

Is there any way of restricting what she can see? They don't have their tablets very often. It's usually when I need to concentrate on something else. I'd love to sit and play with them but it's not always possible. So for example, this evening, they've had the tablets while I give their baby sibling a bath. I know if they have the tablets I can get on with the bath in safety.

I'm getting worried about DD7. She's very tech savvy but totally oblivious to online dangers. She hides her screen sometimes, so I confiscate the tablet which causes tension in the house. Is there a way of restricting what she can see that is more difficult for her to bypass? Or do I just take it off her (and find another type of entertainment for when I want to do something with the baby).

My dd who is nearly 7 loses her tablet if she goes on things she is not allowed on. She then has a choice to read or colour or do homework in her room. If when she gets it back I catch her again within a certain amount of time then she loses it for a week. No negotiation. She's old enough to understand the rules.

How can she bypass the kids app on the fire, unless she has the parental control password?

Get a Koala box

It restricts access to certain sites and you can ad detour own
Blocks social media per each one so can allow what’s app but not FB
Can set to homework mode
Can allow access to C site (things like Superdrug get blocked due to name)
You can set timers
You can allow extra time as a reward
So allow 7am to 7:30 am
Blocked from 5/6 tea time homework
Back on 7/8 pm for bedtime
Big red bottom to block totally
You can see what they are are
Each device can be separate or allocated to a child

So daisy has Xbox kindle and phone
Family laptop can be for Daisy or move to Bob in a flick
Can be operated remotely by anyone’s other he password

Really easy - I don’t work for them!!

You keep yours and sky etc on normal WiFi - kids have to use the koala box
