Any tips for hungry baby

My ds is 6 weeks and has a huge appetite. He's still feeding every 2 hours (sometimes even less than that). And he just never seems full. I've had to stop breastfeeding as I just couldn't physically keep up with his demands. He was a big baby when he was born (9.5 pounds) and is already in 3-6 month baby grows. Has anyone had any experiences with an extremely hungry baby? If so do you have any tips/advice. Did you start to wean earlier then usual in the end?

I seem to remember feeling the same about our little girl but I think it's very normal as they are experiencing a huge growth spurt in those early weeks. My 16 week old will still barely go three hours between feeds in the day, however, she does go through the night comfortably.
Stick to what you are doing, if he takes too much he will just throw a bit back up.

It's normal to feed 2 hourly at 6 weeks and they also feed for comfort.

DD was a frequent feeder. No need to wean early as milk is the perfect food and has far more calories than early weaning foods. DD was 23lbs before we offered anything other than milk.

My LO was a constant feeder- I think we have unrealistic expectations about Brestfeeding - in class they told me they feed every 3-4hrs, so I thought something was wrong when my LO never left the breast. My Hv has to assure me this was normal.
You can certainly add the odd formula bottle at this stage if you need a break.

How many ounces is he drinking at a time? And have you tracked how much he eats in a 24 hour period by chance?

Sounds completely normal. My baby is 9 weeks old and feeds at least every 2 hours day and night, usually more like hourly in the day. Completely breast fed. You could have continued to BF with support - your body would have made enough milk. Try not to worry, it's totally normal

Both my DDs fed that frequently for a v v long time and they were small babies!! It is exhausting but I don't think you need to do anything particularly different apart from give milk when they ask for it!!

Absolutely normal. Babies do feed very often indeed. But you aren't to know that if it's your first. The myth of the 4 hourly feeder makes us all feel like we've got a faulty one.

It sounds like you're responding to your baby's needs, which is exactly the right thing to do.

Up the oz and then keep on feeding.

My DS was 9.4lbs and he feeds every 2 hours during the day at 4 months. He was in 3-6 month at 6 weeks too and 6-9m at 10 weeks! 🙈 BF too. Sounds a bit stupid but is he definitely actively feeding when you BF? I watch DS closely and when he starts to just comfort suck and no real swallowing I latch him off and give him dummy but stay cradling him.
