Little beaver

Hello everyone,

First of all I'm not sure if I'm in the right part of Mumsnet and If I'm not: sorry didn't know where else to go with my problem.

My 11,5 month old baby boy is teething and does pretty well during the day (thank you Calpol, cold teething keys & Ambesol) BUT in the evening he turns into a little beaver going fully for the top of his cot bed!!! The little man got a bit of wood of already and I'm not sure what to put on it! I tried apple cider vinegar so that it would taste sour but it seems he likes the taste Hmm
What can I put on the top of his cot bed that stops him biting it /getting small pieces of wood in /not damage his little teeth? The sides all have that plastic on top of them so he can't do any damage / hurt himself there.
He gets a little bit of Calpol before bedtime and Ambesol but he still bites his bed on the 2 top parts, anyone got any ideas?? Flowers

When you say a little bit of Calpol are you giving him the appropriate dose so it actually works before bed?

Have you tried ibuprofen?

Peaches2018 · 28/05/2019 12:47

Hi BasilBooBoo
Yes he gets the appropriate dose (5ml) and I switch with Nurofen baby and with the Ambesol but nothing seems to help at the moment Smile

I've heard toddlers hate the rough side of Velcro - could you glue some of that to the end to stop the biting of the bed and maybe dangle some chew toys off of the frame so he can relieve himself?

Secretly relieved it's not just me with a kid who gnaws on everything!

What about that stuff you paint on nails to stop you biting them?

Peaches2018 · 28/05/2019 13:23

@lilbubsmama mine likes his velcro strap for his dummy Grin He takes his dummy off it and chews on those 2 bits!!
@Chippychipsforme Mine chews on every single thing It's madness!!
I thought of that too but I think it's not good if he gets it in his tummy. Just like the wood. I thought as well of some of his toothpaste but that's strawberry flavoured and he loves it so I'm really stuck Confused

Bit gross really but would he still find it tasty if you rubbed raw leak or onion onto it?

babysharkah · 28/05/2019 13:49

You can get silicone cot bar covers for this.

Peaches2018 · 28/05/2019 14:28

Well we got those for the sides but we haven't been able to find ones for the top since the wood is almost 6cm thick there!
@BasilBooBoo I've got a ton of onions here so I'll definitely try that out!!
