Hi,

Wasn't sure where to post this!

But I'm going on holiday with my family and my 7 month old, will be 7.5 months when we go.

We are currently weaning, but she is still having formula bottles. Can you take formula milk powder on the plane? Or is this classed as a liquid/food?

Thanks in advance!

When we went to America with my little one, I put all the powdered milk (sealed, brand new) in our main luggage and then took the ready made formulas (again sealed and new) in our hand luggage for the journey x

Apparently you’re allowed to carry as much as is needed for the journey

Thanks!

We are only taking hand luggage, nothing in the hold. I think I'll buy some cow and gate ready made ones and take them. Then hopefully buy a box of powdered milk in the airport x

I've travelled a lot with babies when they still had bottles. The ready mixed stuff is most convenient when you are flying and you can take asmuch on as you like. However, they can make you open and try them at the security check. I had one very arsy security guy make me open and sip on 4 packs. So, it may be easier to just buy powder and ready mix after you've cleared security.

This for the suitcase, but we measured out powder into formula pots, asked airport cafe/air stewards for a couple of oz of boiling water, mixed the powder, then topped up with cold bottled water bought at the airport for on the plane, worked just fine

You can order to Boots after security for collection. Saves having to lug loads of things to the airport and through security.
