What do you put in your kids lunchboxes I'm hotter days? Thinking in terms of yoghurts and things that stay cool?

My mum used to freeze Capri sun drinks in and put them in my lunch box - by lunch they'd be pretty melted and a bit slushy but great! Also doubled up as an ice block for other 'cool' items.

I freeze the yoghurt so it acts as ice block.

freezing juice doesn't work as well as it stays frozen too long.

I put ice packs inside. Makes the bag a bit heavier but works very well at keeping everything cool!

nooriginalnameshere · 24/05/2019 08:13

What are the best ice packs, any recommendations?

I’ve got some mini ice packs from Sainsbury’s before, they are about the size of your palm.

I have these. Bought from a supermarket

I put the lunch box in an insulated bag with an ice brick.

Its stupidly hot here (20C in winter, rising to 40-something in the summer).
Insulated bag, and frozen juice. I spend my winter mornings soaking the juice in a bowl of tap water to start the defrosting.... by summer, I just fling them in solid. The kids tell be this is about right. I put them in tap water, make breakfast, make packed lunch, and then transfer drink to the lunchbox when I pull it all together.
