NO interest in crawling!!

Baby is 7.5 months and shows NO interest in crawling. He rolls confidently from back to front, however recently stopped rolling from front to back & just lies and screams (he’s been rolling this way since 3 months so know he can do it!!) He doesn’t enjoy tummy time & likes being on his feet, however he shows no signs of pulling himself up and won’t move his feet when standing. He sits confidently and will sit for a hours but shows no interest in the next steps :(

He's still little. My DD never crawled and didn't like lying on her tummy. She also didn't roll over either way until she started learning to stand as she didn't have a use for it.
If he's sitting up happily then the rest will follow.

Indecisivelurcher · 22/05/2019 09:34

Don't worry OP, 7.5 months is still pretty young to crawl and well within the normal range! My Dd crawled at 9 months and walked at 13, my Ds crawled at closer to 12 and didn't walk until 16 months, but was ahead on other things and is a tearaway now! Your little one is probably prioritising working on something else inside their amazing brain, making all those brilliant new connections. They will crawl when they're ready :)

Dd never crawled but walked at 10 months.

Don't worry, dc1 crawled at 8 months but didn't walk until 17. Dc2 didn't crawl until 10 months, he's just turned 1 and is already doing steps when he's in the mood.

Your baby won't be rolling around at 18, don't worry!

TenPastTen · 22/05/2019 09:38

I really wouldn't worry too much that's still very little. My dd didn't sit up until she was 9 months and didn't crawl until well after she was 1. They are all different and will get there eventually.

I know it's hard because I was the same as you and always stressing about it, but now she's running around with the rest of them looking back it doesn't really matter what month they learn it.

Chippychipsforme · 22/05/2019 09:49

He's 7 months old. Give you and your baby a break. They develop at their own pace.

Emmabryant123 · 22/05/2019 10:02

He is tiny
My dd didn't crawl until over one years old and didn't sit until 9 months and she is absolutely fine
At 3 years you'd never guess who crawled first or not

ohnoessexgirl · 22/05/2019 10:05

My DD (now 24 yr old woman) never crawled. She shuffled along on her bum. Apparently I did that too.

Ploppymoodypants · 22/05/2019 10:07

DD is six months and. Any Roll over from front or back yet 🤷🏼‍♀️

She can however sit up, bring food to her mouth and hold it there. Smile, laugh, stand up on sofa supported by holding onto the back of it.

They are all different. I would t worry yet.

DD1 never crawled, just sat and then stood up and then walked.

CMOTDibbler · 22/05/2019 10:08

Mine didn't crawl till the week before he was one, walked at 14 months. And once he did, he never stopped moving again!

TeaForDad · 22/05/2019 10:08

Dd didn't move at all until 13 months, rolled a bit
Enjoy it!
She's now 4.5 and I can't keep up with her

DappledThings · 22/05/2019 21:46

DD didn't roll till the say after her birthday. But shuffled before that though then randomly started crawling at 16 months.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 23/05/2019 08:43

I could have written this when my DD was the same age. She was rubbish at even trying and then had a little go at around 9.5 months for a day or two and then gave up. And then at 10.5 months she learnt and mastered it in one day! All of a sudden!

Pinkvoid · 23/05/2019 10:23

Some babies never crawl, they just skip straight to cruising or even walking. My DM always loves to tell everyone how I never could be bothered crawling so just used to shuffle around on my bum Grin.

Seven months is still young, they say anything up to 10 months is normal.

NorthEndGal · 23/05/2019 10:26

Sounds like the way my DS was. He never did crawl, hated tummy time too.
One day when he was about 17 months, he started pulling himself up (finally!!!) And within a day was walking unaided, and running about in about three days.

Mind you, he has always start d everything late compared to others, and caught up quickly every time

darceybussell · 23/05/2019 10:34

Why are you worrying about it at 7.5 months? I'd say only a small proportion of babies can crawl at that age! If he still can't do it at a year old worry about it then!

Byebyefriend · 23/05/2019 10:48

Ds showed no sign of crawling until 9.5 months, then got into crawl position one day and the the next day crawled the length of the living room. 2 weeks late he started walking - running--

WeAreAllAdults · 23/05/2019 13:19

My son crawled at 10 months but showed no interest in learning before then. He was equally happy to just sit. He started nursery at 9 months old and saw other babies crawling, which I think is what encouraged him to try. Now he's a little sprinter in the making!

Don't worry. He's just fine and will get there in his own time. Smile

PerfectPeony2 · 23/05/2019 13:22

My baby crawled at 6 months. If I (ever) have another child I won’t encourage it. Honestly it only makes life more difficult! My friends baby crawled at 1 year and walked at 18 months. They’re all different and catch up by age 2.

Kiki92 · 23/05/2019 18:28

My DS didn't crawl until he was 11 months. He's a big baby, so I put it down to that.

Try not to worry. There's no set age for this stuff, and your DS will get there when he's ready.

I'd count your blessings though. Life is chaos once the crawling begins!!

Mimbizz · 23/05/2019 20:10

13 months and counting..still doesn't crawl, only learnt to roll at 10 months...

riotlady · 23/05/2019 22:01

As others have said, I wouldn’t worry at 7.5 months!
Some kids never even crawl at all, they just skip it and walk instead. One of my friends had a baby who learnt to crawl at 13 months and only crawled for a week before he learnt to walk!

Ohhgreat · 23/05/2019 22:03

DS never bothered with crawling, went from sitting to walking! I think he learnt to crawl about 14 months....he walked at 10 months!

Bombalarino · 23/05/2019 22:09

Goodness, surely it's the minority of 7 month olds that crawl?

Apparently I didn't crawl or even roll until after I walked.
