Toddler cotbed guards???

ds (2) has mastered climbing out the cot so converted to bed but there is no guard and he fell out last night. I bought a cuggl mesh one but it's too big for a cotbed.

Mattress sides above the base so the ikea one will come up to the top of the mattress.

Any suggestions

I may be shot down for this but I moved DS's fluffy rug next to his bed and he was fine. A lot of the time I'd go to wake him up the next morning and he would be sound asleep on the rug.Grin

I had to put DD1 in a bed when she was 15 months old, as DD2 was due to arrive. I just put the bed mattress directly on the floor, so DD1 couldn’t fall more than a couple of inches onto carpet. There were no rails involved, just a stair gate so she couldn’t hurt herself if she got up at night. She loved her “ big girl’s bed”.

Fluffy rug might be a idea.
I couldn't go with the mattress on floor idea now he's seen and been in his bed. Plus no where to store the frame. He loves it just don't want him getting hurt falling out.

We one have similar to yours and its too wide for his bed, we were able to take off the anchor part so it just rests underneath him instead. He climbs on it and leans on it but it doesn't flip forward without the anchor.

I got the hippychick dream tubes, which is basically a sheet that you put inflatable tubes in either side, it comes in single bed size and cotbed size. Worked brilliantly here though costly for what you actually get

Elisheva · 19/05/2019 18:46

Put a pool noodle under the sheet down the side.

@cookielove I feel the cotbed mattress is too light. It seems a bit raised on the outside end where the guard is.

Have a look at The Shrunks inflatable bed guard on Amazon it’s brilliant and easy to travel with. You just need to use with flat sheets

Are inflatable guards safe? Id worry they could be a suffocation risk?
