Hi all,
I was hoping to get some advice. My daughter just turned 1 at the weekend and over the last 2-3 months she has been suffering every few weeks with very bad and painful constipation. Can anyone help with ideas on how to relieve or even better prevent this from happening? She eats a good range of fruit and veg daily and I don't know what is causing it. Any advice very welcome! Thanks!

Fresh orange juice helped my DD.

Dil or gripe water helps. If you have an Indian grocer near by you can often get bags of dil (called suva) cheaply - just boil it with lots of water, steep for the whole day, and then refrigerate — all you need to do is add 2-3 drops to her milk or food.

Orange juice, boiled sugar water, Ella’s prune pouches (mixed with Greek yoghurt) or diluted prune juice or see if you can get a prescription for lactolose from the nurse/GP

Get some of the Ella prune fruit pouches (or make it yourself, but I'm too lazy...) That always clears my son out within 24 hours. Warning the nappies are grim...

I've also found that regularly eating sweetcorn seems to keep stuff pushing through.

Kiwis are the magic fruit for us

Is he getting enough water daily?

The Ella's prune pouches have always been devastatingly effective for my DS. Usually a quarter of a pouch is enough to get things moving
