Briefs over nappy

Morning all!
Yesterday I saw a thread about frilly knickers for girls over a nappy when wearing a dress.
My little one was wearing shorts and a t shirt yesterday, normally always wears a vest but it was hot. I hated that I could see his nappy sometimes! For a boy wearing shorts, would briefs over a nappy be a thing or would I be weird?

I would have thought shorts would do a similar job to the briefs? Perhaps it was just that pair oh shorts? Totally up to you though, nothing wrong if you want to pop briefs on IMHO

dementedpixie · 15/05/2019 08:28

It would be weird as the shorts should be doing the job of the pants.

PinkDaydreams · 15/05/2019 08:30

Ok, it would be weird then! It’s when he’s in the pram, shorts legs rise up (or when he’s messing with them) and I could see his nappy.

Honestly it’s a nappy, does it really matter if someone can see it?
You could always use cloth nappies if you want something more attractive.

Chippychipsforme · 15/05/2019 10:36

Couldn't he just wear a vest and shorts if you want the vest to cover his nappy?

Branleuse · 15/05/2019 10:42

its a bit excessive if hes wearing shorts already

PinkDaydreams · 15/05/2019 10:43

I feel silly now Blush I hadn’t even thought of it till I saw the thread yesterday then I took him out in the pram and he was messing with his shorts and I could see his nappy and then thought ‘people must think I’m a scruff not covering his nappy’ 😂

Put a vest on him. Without a t-shirt if you are worried he is hot. But this is also why I don't put shorts on babies, they look weird. Put him in a romper instead?

BertieBotts · 15/05/2019 10:45

Or yes, a pretty cloth nappy cover would work - no rule saying it needs to be cloth under it?

But IMO. Too much effort. Nobody will care.

PinkDaydreams · 15/05/2019 10:50

I bought some lovely rompers for him but a couple of mums turned their noses up and said he’s too old to wear them!! He’s 17 months old.

I'd just put him in a nappy and something like this:

MN might say just put him in the dress and frlly pants...

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/05/2019 10:55

Sorry, cross post. What's wrong with rompers at that age? I had mine in clothes as babies but I think rompers are fine. I'm not a fan of baby gros other than for bed once they are past 6 months, but other people do and that's perfectly OK. As long as baby is clean, comfy and temperature/weather appropriate then it's Reay just personal choice.

BertieBotts · 15/05/2019 11:15

Oh well, who cares what they think?? He's your baby. Dress him how you like.

PinkDaydreams · 15/05/2019 12:54

Those are the exact rompers I bought! Ended up taking them back as I felt a bit embarrassed, I’m a first time mum.

Thanks all for your help by the way, I’ll go back and buy the rompers for him, they do look a lot more comfortable than shorts and t shirt.

I put boys in shortie rompers in the summer until they were 2. They looked very nice and were comfortable.

Fruityb · 15/05/2019 13:01

I miss rompers so much - my son is too big for any I see now. If I could find some I’d totally be putting him in them. He’s nearly 3 but ever so long!

Plus we’re aiming on potty training so poppers and that.

Thesearmsofmine · 15/05/2019 13:48

Rompers are great! All three of mine were in them until they potty trained.

Caterina99 · 15/05/2019 14:22

Rompers are adorable! My DS wore them when he was around that age and no one ever commented, apart from how cute they were. My only issue with them was doing up the poppers on a wriggling toddler

LollySox · 15/05/2019 15:17

People can be idiots Hmm next time someone says something daft like that just smile and say "good job it's non of your business then" but honestly no one is going to think you're a scruff.

PinkDaydreams · 15/05/2019 20:48

Thank you @LollySox Smile

Another vote for the rompers. Those from Marks are gorgeous. My daughter is 21 months and she'll definitely be sporting rompers this summer. The look sooo comfy!!!

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 15/05/2019 22:29

Rompers are lovely! I've got those ones for DS, Next have got some really nice ones too

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/05/2019 22:35

Yes, Next have some lovely boys or girls or unisex ones - something for everyone.
